Hello Today I am continuing with my series everything you need to recognise with regards to violin from A-Z. Today we are on Z for Frank Peter Zimmerman. Frank Zimmerman is a German violinist, he had his original violin lesson at the age of five and gave his primary concert with an orchestra at the age of 10. Since then he has expended his life performing with a number of major orchestra’s all around the world and collaborating with galore of the world’s biggest conductors. During his long career he has performed with the following orchestras, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, The National symphony orchestra Washington, The Chicago symphony orchestra, The Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed with the following conductor’s Paavo Berglund, Leonard Slatkin, Bernard Haitink, Wolfgang Sawallisch and Mariss Jansons. He also gives a heap of recitals worldwide. His interpretations of the classical and romantic 20th century repertoire have been received with great critical acclaim all around the world by press and public alike. Since 1998 his regular collaborator is the young Italian pianist Enrico Pace other regular collaborators include Heinrich Schiff and Christian Zacharias. As well as performing in orchestra’s and giving recitals global he has also recorded a good deal of albums for EMI classics. He has recorded the concertos of Berg, Beethoven, Brahms, Dvorak, Glazunov, Mendelssohn, Mozart, Prokofiev, Ravel, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky and Weill. Many of these recordings have sold in big amounts and received critical acclaim and prizes worldwide. Zimmerman plays an oldfashioned Stradivarius violin from 1706 which once belonged to Fritz Kreisler. He is sponsored by the Westdeutsche Landesbank. |
